CarTV Privacy Policy

Last updated: 10 August 2026

CarTV ("the App") is a media player. You supply your own playlists and media servers; the App plays them. This policy explains what happens to your data.

The short version

We do not collect anything. The App has no user accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no backend of ours that it talks to. Nothing you do in the App is sent to us, because there is nowhere for it to be sent.

Data stored on your device

All of the following stays in the App's private container on your device and is never transmitted to us:

Deleting the App removes all of it. This data is included in your device backup if you have iCloud Backup or encrypted local backups enabled — that copy is handled by Apple under Apple's terms, not ours.

Network connections

The App connects only to servers you point it at: the streaming sources, playlist URLs, and Jellyfin/Emby servers you configure. Those third parties receive your IP address and the requests needed to deliver the media, and they operate under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. The App also makes one request to Apple's captive-portal endpoint at launch, solely to trigger the system's local network permission prompt; it carries no information about you.

Device permissions

Both are optional. Declining them only disables that specific import method.

Children

The App is not directed at children and collects no personal information from anyone, including children.

Your rights

Because we hold no data about you, there is nothing for us to access, export, correct, or erase on request. You control your data directly: clear it in the App, or delete the App to remove all of it.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version ships with a new release of the App and the date above changes with it.
